Speak the Web is a series of small, intimate, low cost web design & development events
It's the small things that make a big difference
We’re in the process of producing something which WordPress has been screaming out for — a full featured, all-in-one solution for Freelancers who use WordPress. WP-FreeLance has: a CRM, an Invoicing System, Portfolio Management, To-Do Lists, a Scheduling System, a Newsletter Module, Expenses Calculator, and a whole load more.
If we’re being honest about it, we’re quite excited by our latest product. It’s something that has been brewing for quite a while and we’re now starting get it together. The aim is to have pretty much every aspect of your online freelancing business covered, from the initial paperwork, through dealing with client feedback, the all-important invoicing, time management all the way to the final closure of the project. Then of course, after you’ve done all of the hard work for the client, you’ll want to brag about your accomplishments, so we have a portfolio system in place which uses shortcodes to enable you to style the fruits of your labour any way you want.
We don’t have a release date penned in just yet, as we want to make sure that everything is perfect. We do have an ‘idea’ of when we want to get this out there but as I’m sure you can imagine, it’s a pretty long process, especially when you’re as thorough as the Friendly Design team is.
We’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts on all of this and are really interested in any feature requests you may have.

I am eagerly awaiting this plugin, I too would love to get in on the beta, maybe do some bug tracking.
Best of luck!

Hey Ben, thanks for the comment. We’re still progressing along with this, however, we think that getting it right is much more important than rushing it. So, there’s a good chance we will wait until WordPpress version 3.0 is out, which will mean we can test it on the ‘merged’ version, so that we make it as future proof as possible. I shall add you to the beta test program and you’ll get a release sent to you when we’re out of pre-pre-pre Alpha ;)

Hi There,
I stumbled across your project while clicking around on github, I am a WordPress developer and thought the idea of a Freelance plugin is good. I am the developer of (probably the best :P) WordPress portfolio plugin JH Portfolio. I wondered if you were interested in some kind of partnership whereby JH Portfolio could be used for a portfolio aspect of WP FreeLance. Just throwing it out there!
The plugin is currently undergoing a major revamp, you can view it on github: http://github.com/joehoyle/JH-Portfolio (you can download the new Beta there, also a couple of screenshots to give you an idea: http://github.com/joehoyle/JH-Portfolio/raw/master/screenshot-1.png , http://github.com/joehoyle/JH-Portfolio/raw/master/screenshot-2.png, http://github.com/joehoyle/JH-Portfolio/raw/master/screenshot-3.png
Cheers!

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the comment. Your plugin looks great, excellent work! At the moment, we’re going to keep everything in-house with regards to WP-FreeLance. The reasons are numerous, but one of the main factors is that we’re using it as a training exercise for some of our new staff, so they get to work on a full product and learn the way our code review system works etc. Best of luck with your plugin, it really does look like you’ve done loads with it! Happy New Year.

Now this is something I could have used for the past 7 years!
Can I be on your beta test team? You have my email :-)

We agree, Hyder – and that’s one of the reasons we started developing it in the first place. We’ll be opening up beta tests in the new year – we’ll add you to our list and you’ll hear from us, then. Thanks for the interest.
